Saudi Warplanes to Bomb Syria?

Saudi Warplanes to Bomb Syria?

by Stephen Lendman

US warplanes having been bombing Syrian infrastructure and government sites since late 2014 - on the phony pretext of combating ISIS.

British, French, Canadian and Australian warplanes joined them. Israel intermittently launches its own aerial and at times cross-border shelling attacks.

Syria is victimized by a US-led conspiracy to destroy its sovereignty, nearly five years of terror war raging on the entire country, mostly harming civilians, half the population internally or externally displaced - the equivalent of 160 million Americans.

Try imagining it. Lay blame where it belongs. Obama’s ruthless war on Syria is airbrushed from scurrilous scoundrel media reports, turning pseudo-journalism into an open sewer.

Victims are always blamed for America’s high crimes, imperial lawlessness entirely responsible their horrific suffering, affecting entire populations in one country after another, responsible for millions of deaths and serial raping of independent nation-states post-9/11 alone.

On Saturday, RT International reported Saudi Arabia set “to deploy military jets and personnel to Turkey’s Incirlik Air Base in the south of the country,” citing its Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu as the source.

US warplanes currently use the facility to strike Syrian, not terrorist, targets. Will Saudi and Turkish aerial attacks follow?

Will ground invasions by both countries accompany them, upping the stakes hugely if initiated, making ceasefire and peace talks more farcical than already?

On Saturday, Turkish media highlighted Cavusoglu’s belligerent remarks, saying:

“Turkey and Saudi Arabia have been in favor of a ground operation in the fight against Daesh. We have been saying in all (so-called coalition) meetings  that there should be a comprehensive strategy.”

“We have said if such a strategy is put in place, we, as Turkey and Saudi Arabia, can join a ground offensive.”

“Saudi Arabia is now sending planes to Turkey, to İncirlik (air base). They have come and inspected the bases. How many planes will be coming is not known yet. They said they could send troops as well if necessary.”

“It is not something…planned” so far. Ankara and Riyadh claiming their aim is fighting ISIS is a complete fabrication - the same Big Lie Washington uses to justify  its naked aggression.

Russia alone among world powers is waging real war on terrorism, hugely disrupting America’s regional imperial agenda, maybe foiling it altogether, why US, other Western and regional rogue partners are frantic to try stopping it.

Russia warned against Turkey, Saudi Arabia and other Gulf States becoming more militarily involved in Syria than already - by launching air and ground attacks on the phony pretext of combating terrorism.

Assad minced no words saying “(w)e will certainly give them a resolute rebuff” if they try.

A previous article quoted the reliable Saker calling Riyadh’s “degenerate” military “a joke,” unable to defeat a guerrilla Houthi force in Yemen, adding:

“Syrians, Russians, Iranians and Hezbollah will all try to race each other to be the first one to finally get a hold of these SOBs and teach them a lesson they shall not forget in a long time.”

He doesn’t believe Erdogan and likeminded lunatics around him “are crazy enough to (risk) war with Russia or even invade Syria” - nothing beyond annoying minor provocations.

He set up camps run by terrorists 200 meters cross-border in Syrian territory on the pretext of halting the refugee flow, giving them another launching pad to unleash attacks on government forces and civilians.

Obama’s war on Syria will drag on endlessly as long as he supports terrorists, his successor continuing the same ruthless agenda. Ceasefire and peace talks are farcical, a complete hoax, a waste of time.

If Turkey and/or Saudi Arabia invade with ground forces, direct confrontation with Russia may follow.

Any threat to its forces will face a stiff response. Local commanders have authority to do whatever it takes to challenge them effectively.

Ankara and Riyadh will do nothing belligerent without US permission or complicity.

Will Obama risk greater war than already? Will he risk direct confrontation with Russia?

Its military might matches America’s. Maybe it’s superior  given sophisticated weaponry and tactics it’s yet to display.

Pentagon commanders awestruck over its successful Syrian campaign, giving them pause about confronting an adversary they can’t defeat.
