What Russia Should Tell America

What Russia Should Tell America

by Stephen Lendman

Russia continues the futility of negotiating with Washington in good faith - its adversary, not partner, wanting its government toppled, pro-Western tyranny replacing it.

Sergey Lavrov is Moscow’s foreign policy point man. It’s time for him to discard diplomatic niceties and tell John Kerry negotiating with him wastes time. It won’t continue.

He should say henceforth on Syria and other geopolitical issues, Russia intends acting unilaterally, in good faith, supporting its allies forthrightly, defending its interests responsibly, acting in full compliance with international law - not breaching it the way Washington does consistently.

Ceasefire in Syria was ill-conceived, a trap to let US-supported anti-Assad terrorists regroup, rearm and replenish their ranks.

Lavrov should unequivocally say Moscow no longer intends going along with the myth of moderate rebels. None exist. He should stress all armed anti-government forces not complying with ceasefire terms henceforth will attacked nationwide, targeted for elimination.

He should explain Russia is rebuilding its strike force, a more formidable one than before, intending an all-out effort to smash all terrorist groups in Syria - offering Iraq, Libya and other regional countries Moscow’s help on request against the scourge of US-supported terrorism threatening them.

Putin is on the right side of history, Obama an unindicted war criminal multiple times over. The huge danger of Clinton succeeding him should mobilize Russia to act now forcefully.

The longer it delays, the tougher things will get later on. Lavrov needs to spell it out to his counterpart in no uncertain terms.

The time for diplomacy was earlier, not now, action vitally needed without delay.

Doing the right thing is its own reward. It may also save humanity from the scourge of global war. The longer Russia delays, the greater the risk.
