Former UK Ambassador Calls CIA Russian US Election Hacking Charge "Bullshit"

Former UK Ambassador Calls CIA Russian US Election Hacking Charge “Bullshit”

by Stephen Lendman

“Craig Murray is an author, broadcaster and human rights activist. He was British Ambassador to Uzbekistan from August 2002 to October 2004 and Rector of the University of Dundee from 2007 to 2010,” his web site explains.

He did what few others dared. While serving as UK ambassador to Uzbekistan, Britain’s Foreign Office removed him for criticizing the Karimov regime’s major human rights abuses.

Facing disciplinary action in London, based on trumped up charges, he was given a week to resign and told discussing accusations against him would violate the 1989 Official Secrets Act.

After months of investigation revealing nothing, all charges were dropped. Murray got a slap on the wrist for truth-telling. The Financial Times reported leaked information, indicating he said MI6 used intelligence by Uzbek authorities obtained through torture.

Staunchly anti-war, he supports whistleblowers worldwide. In 2006, he was given the Sam Adams Award for Integrity in Intelligence. Before Foreign Office action against him, he declined honors offered by Queen Elizabeth, saying titles are “not his thing.”

On December 11, his article titled “The CIA’s Absence of Conviction” blasted the agency’s “blatant lie,” claiming Russian US election hacking despite no evidence proving it. Below are some key points he made, along with my own comments:

The CIA claims it “know(s) the individuals” involved in hacking. Yet no arrests or extradition requests were made. “Plainly it stinks,” said Murray. The alleged “anonymous source claims of ‘We know who it was, it was the Russians’ are beneath contempt.”

Can any sensible person believe Hillary lost to Trump because of Russia? It’s an absurdity on its face. Yet US, UK and other European media keep hyping it to their disgrace.

Murray called CIA charges against Russia “bullshit. They are absolutely making it up. I know who leaked them. I’ve met the person who leaked them, and they are certainly not Russian and it’s an insider. It’s a leak, not a hack; the two are different things.”

There you have it from a credible source with inside knowledge. Claiming Russian responsibility is blatant agency fake news, disgraceful lying for political reasons - clearly to bash Russia, while denigrating Trump’s triumph in service to Hillary and dark forces backing her.

Murray concluded saying “(t)he worst thing about all this is that it is aimed at promoting further conflict with Russia,” endangering everyone.
