Putin Congratulates Macron, NYT Russia Bashing Stays Unrelenting

Putin Congratulates Macron, NYT Russia Bashing Stays Unrelenting

by Stephen Lendman

Macron’s triumph assures deplorable continuity, including involvement in US imperial wars, neoliberal harshness, and police state crackdowns on nonbelievers.

Media scoundrels cheered his election, on the wrong side of all vital issues, especially geopolitical ones.

Vladimir Putin congratulated Macron, in part saying “(t)he  people of France have elected you to the highest office in your country in challenging times for Europe and the international community in general.”

Russia urges “overcoming mutual distrust and joining efforts to ensure international stability and security…”

A feature post-election NYT article claimed nonexistent Russian interference in France’s election, saying “French voters def(ied) Putin’s meddling,” adding:

“Elections…have been viewed as a prime moment to try to exploit Western weakness - and openness - to help bring to power leaders more sympathetic to Russia.”

“France was the latest potential prize. Moscow backed one losing candidate after another, including an unusual, high-profile endorsement of the pro-Russia, far-right leader Marine Le Pen, whom French voters rejected soundly on Sunday.”

Russia remains neutral in all foreign elections, endorsing no candidates over others - in Western and other countries.

As usual, The NYT lied, instead of reporting accurately for its readers, an anathema idea for its management, editors, columnists, reporters and contributors - serving up disinformation and fake news instead of responsible journalism.

The Times: “(P)olitical analysts aimed their criticism directly at Mr. Putin’s foreign policy, saying it was time to recognize that Russian attempts to influence elections abroad, including in the United States, were a disaster and damaging Russian interests.”

Fact: If US foreign policy was like Russia’s, peace and stability would triumph over endless wars of aggression. The threat of nuclear annihilation would vanish. Multi-world polarity would replace Washington’s rage for dominance.

Fact: If The Times and other media scoundrels reported truthfully instead of unscrupulously, news consumers wouldn’t be lied to about vital issues affecting their lives, welfare and futures.

As expected, The Times suspects Russian involvement in French election eve material released, despite no evidence suggesting it, showing Macron hid wealth abroad to avoid paying his fair share in taxes.

The Times blasted Russian media, ignoring its accurate reporting, playing no favorites, polar opposite the self-styled newspaper of record’s deplorable one-sided support for Hillary - featuring virtual DNC press release journalism, disgracing itself like always.

The Times is a case study in disinformation and fake news, polar opposite responsible journalism. The best way to stay uninformed, misinformed and disinformed is by following its daily editions.
